Attendance Matters

This is the image for the news article titled I'm only 15 minutes late!  If you are only 15 minutes late each day of the school year you will miss 2,610 minutes of instructional time.  I only missed 1.5 days per month, 5,670 instructional minutes were lost.

Every minute you are out of school is a lost opportunity to grow and succeed. Students at North Elementary are working hard during the 18-19 school year to increase their chances at success.  Classes are competing to see which class has the best attendance percentage each month.  The winning class has the opportunity to have "Alexa" answer classroom questions for the month.

December provided a challenge to all classrooms as influenza, colds, and strep worked against them to attend.  Despite the germs challenging their health the Kindergarten class managed to claim the prize before the holidays.  With the New Year comes another battle with winter germs, who will beat the odds and have the best attendance?

Help your child beat the odds, wash hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, eat healthy and get plenty of rest.   If your child is ill make sure they are symptom free for 24 hours before sending them back to school.  Most of all, try to make sure they get as many healthy instructional minutes as possible during the school year to help them reach success.
