Friendly Competition

The Thrill of Victory
This is the image for the news article titled The Thrill of VictoryThroughout the year North Elementary staff work with students to help develop social skills.  Simple behaviors and tasks are explained and assigned to the children.  It can be a simple task of lining up quietly and remaining quiet in the hallway or the importance of using "please" and "thank you".  As the students get older expectations increase for displaying appropriate social skills and respectful classroom behavior.

Recently the third and fourth grade classes entered into a friendly competition, the PBIS Cool Tools Distraction Challenge.  Mrs. Edholm shared the expectations and offered an outcome reward to the winning class.  Daily totals were kept during the month of February to see which class could exhibit the use of Cool Tools on a daily basis.

At the end of the month a tally of infractions was made and the class with the least infractions received the reward.  The class was treated to a special trip to the Route 67 Cafe and treated to a choice of Strawberry Cheesecake, Ice Cream/Brownie, or a Root Beer Float.  The celebration photos can be seen in the North Elementary Gallery.

March is providing an opportunity for a rematch.  Good behavior can lead you to unexpected places, good luck to the classes!   Please ask your child about the PBIS Cool Tools.
