Family Reading Night was a huge success! Thank you the committee who planned it: Mrs. Renee Welsh, Mrs. Emily Ebey and Mrs. Jennifer Gearing. We also want to thank all the teachers for attending and helping. We appreciated local authors, Brenda Sayre and Patti Nemec who came to share their story about a local cat named Binx. And, the high school drama students who put on Chicken Little were a lot of fun! The 40+ families who came enjoyed popcorn and pizza!

JOIN US TONIGHT! We are all set to read some of our favorite books here at school which include fun things to do on the pages, not simply listening. We even have an author who wrote about a local cat, just like our own lightning McQueen, who visits each morning and afternoon! There will be a skit too! It is preformed by the HS students. The pizza will be here, hot and ready to eat at 5:30. We have veggies and dessert too! The stations begin at 6:00. And, the best part, you can wear jammies. I have my pajamas on and I am so excited to share my favorite book with everyone. Please join us!!!!
This Thursday, November 21st is Family Reading Night. Please join us for pizza, drinks, dessert and popcorn. We will enjoy some fun reading stations! 1st grade is WILD about reading! They have been reading about animals and learning so many facts.

Our quilt of honor and thanks is just getting started. Please send in your service man or woman so we can thank and remember them as a school community. The quilt will be up throughout November. Late squares are welcome!
Kane Curtis was drawn from our many hats off students. He received ice cream from Full Scoop and Pizza from Gelsasamos. He also got tickets for his family to attend WIU athletic events! Thank you to McDonough Telephone Company for helping us recognize our amazing kids who are respectful, responsible and safe. Thanks to Full Scoop, WIU and Gelsasamos too! Kane is a great kid, always smiling, respectful and responsible.

At 2:00 we will parade to the park and back with parties to follow. Please keep any overly scary costumes and weapons or look alike weapons at home tomorrow. PreK will not parade.

Red Ribbon Week is off to a good start!
Weather permitting, kindergarten - 6th grades will parade to the Good Hope Community Park as soon as we are all assembled. Our hope is to walk out at 2:00. The Harvest parties will begin back at the building for students at 2:15. Bring a lawn chair to the park to see the students in their costumes. Only room parents and those signed up for the Harvest Parties will enter the building for the classroom parties.

Please spend some time making sure your child knows to make the right choice when it comes to trying drugs. We have themed dress up days for the kids and staff as we discuss how to keep our bodies and our school drug free.
In music during the first quarter, students learned a variety of folk dances and singing games. 3rd-6th grade played ukulele and younger grades played a variety of percussion instruments - more photos of kindergarten and first grade to come! Students have started working on our Winter Program - hope to see you all there December 9!
