Today is letter H - Helping Hands
1st grade watched a Franklin episode called 'Franklin Helps Out' and talked about the different ways he was able to help his friends and community. Together the first grade students came up with ways they can help their friends, teachers, family and our community. Then, they made a beautiful helping hands collage!

Thank you to everyone who came to enjoy Fine Arts Night at WPNE. We had so much fun singing and sharing our artwork. It was great to see so many families here. Thank you Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Fentem and Mr. Eden!

Mix and Mingle buddies continued

Our mix and mingle lunch was a huge success. It was fun eating with a new grade level and playing with them at recess. The big kids stepped up and were great role models and the younger kids enjoyed the attention.

The 4th grade students enjoyed a day of Farm Safety brought to us by The Progressive Agriculture Foundation. On Friday, they learned so many safety practices like how to properly use a fire extinguisher. It was a good opportunity for both the north and the south to be together.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Gearing

Please join us! We are excited to share our music and artwork with our community.

Today alumni of WPNE who are now in the 7th grade returned home to spend some time with our 6th grade students to prepare for the transition to Jr. High School. They played some team building games and had a Q & A session. Our 6th grade had a lot of fun!

We had a 1st grade and a 2nd grade student read all the way around the world this week! One is not pictured. We all give each student who makes it this far with their reading log a standing ovation. Everyone acknowledges how much time you have to spend in a book to reach this achievement. And, we recognize the efforts and importance of reading as entire school body. It is really cool to hear everyone chanting "read, read, read, read, read" and cheering for all those who are making daily reading a priority.

E is for extra recess and we all enjoyed extra time in the sun on this beautiful day !

Back by popular demand, it is the ABC countdown of the WPNE school year! Tomorrow, April 17 we will have 26 days of school left. It is a bittersweet time to cherish. We start our first learning days with the ABCs and we want to come full circle and end our time here at WPNE right where we first started. Please see the picture that has a day for each letter. This list was created with input from students and staff. Let's keep motivated and learning right to the end with a little ABC fun!

Look at all these boys reading so much all the time! Becoming an effective reader takes practice. They have made it all way around the world. Every 15 minutes of reading is 250 miles. And one has made it around twice and is now on his third trip. Toby Lewis has read more than any other student here at WPNE. Way to read Toby! Thank to all the parents and caregivers who are reading with their students and filling out their reading logs so we can become the best readers possible.
